WELCOME TO CROMWELL AUTOMOTIVE

Rodney Bitgood started Cromwell Automotive in April 1999. He has 20-years plus of experience repairing automobiles.  Rodney is the grandson of Dr. George Bitgood, A very well known Veterinarian in Middletown, CT for many years. While animals were George Bitgood’s first love-his second love was automobiles- of which he had a very exclusive collection of Mercedes Benz cars-some of which were very rare. While Rodney loves animals as well, his first love is the automobile- of which his grandfather passed on to him.

“I remember being a child looking at all of these cars and being mesmerized by their beauty and intrigued by them as well”  (Rodney Bitgood)

GROWING IS GOOD

Since 1999, Cromwell Automotive has evolved from a one-man operation to a dynamic team of eight skilled professionals, and we’re still growing. Our expansion led us to our new, spacious location at 263 Main St. We’ve transitioned from offering used cars to specializing in New/Used Plows, Snow, and Ice removal equipment. As a comprehensive automotive repair facility, we cater to “all makes, all models,” handling everything from routine oil changes to major engine overhauls and everything in between. Proudly, we’re recognized as both a NAPA Autocare Service Center and an ASE Independent Service Center. This distinction ensures not only access to high-quality parts from NAPA but also ongoing training in automotive electrical systems, engine performance, emissions, air conditioning, brakes, and diagnostic equipment.

But our commitment to automotive excellence extends beyond repairs; we’re passionate about building and racing our own racecars. Among them is our 1986 Z-28, which competes in NMCA sanctioned events and various races along the eastern seaboard.
